The Luncheon – Monet – 1000 pieces

The Lunch, 1876 is a relaxed, casual and natural picture of everyday life. It features an uncleared table in the foreground under the riddled shadows of an unseen tree. A child (Jean Monet) is playing near the table. In the background are two women casually walking and talking, enjoying the kind weather. All this is made more beautiful by the garden and flowers in bloom, the foliage and all the green that slightly hide the two figures and the house in the back.

Oscar-Claude Monet (1840-1926) is a famous French painter and one of the founders of the Impressionism movement along with his friends Renoir, Sisley and Bazille. Monet rejected the traditional approach to landscape painting and instead of copying old masters, he began learning from his friends and nature itself. Monet observed variations of color and light caused by the daily or seasonal changes and brought these to life in his paintings.
